The second week in the studio worked out pretty well. We managed to get all the percussion and drums done together with all little overdubs, lead vocals and harmonies.
It was quite the tiring experience and wouldn’t want to be repeated it for a while at least.
We are going to mix the album the week after next in one fell swoop…after that its release time.

After months of demos, the recording of flinders Debut Album has kicked off. A pretty successful first week was had, all guide tracks are down and a lot of the instrumentation as well.
Les Keye, an active member of the flinders live act is producing/engineering the record.
Week 2 will involve finishing off all of the playing and recording and checking to make sure there aren’t more than a handful of mistakes by your truly.
flinders has found that independent shoestring recording is not really the “hilarious crazy” experience you read about when you have four producers, three engineers, 14 weeks in the studio and unlimited funds (see Guns and Roses circa “Use your Illusions”).
2FM have invited flinders to their studio to record a few songs, which will then be broadcast on the national airwaves.
The recording will go out on the 11th February 2008 on Dan Hegaraty’s show “The Alternative to Sleep” between midnight and 2am.
flinders has been selected for inclusion on a compilation CD to be distributed throughout Australia by the record Label Starving Kids
‘Boxes Burning’ is once again the flagship for the good ship flinders
Flinders is provisionally listed at track 12 of the compilation.
Flinders has been awarded the grand prize of CD of the Month by Connected Magazine in Dublin.
This comes with a prize of one days free recording in a studio in Temple Bar which is just what the Doctor ordered.

A Podcast recorded by flinders for ‘making waves’, an outlet for new and emerging Irish Artists a number of weeks ago is now available to listen to.

The good people at Columbia/RCA records have been in contact to do a feature on me as an ‘Unsigned Artist’ on their homepage
I answered a few questions about production and what-not, so we shall see what it looks like when its done. The resulting Video can be seen in the video section of this website.

Flinders is to be the featured artist on the 28th June 2007 on a radio show broadcast in America called Peace and Panpipes
Peace and Panpipes is a radio show broadcast on a Chicago based internet radio station.
It’s broadcast in America on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7-10pm Central time.
If you can’t catch it at the time, it will be available for download as a podcast from fearless radio once the show has gone out.
